BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
Download the GATES Belt Drive Mobile App (Available for IOS & Android) You can access the download page on the GATES official website.
1.0) Checking Belt Tension
- Launch the GATES Belt Drive mobile app and place your phone microphone approximately an inch from the belt.
NOTE: Make sure you check the belt tension in a quiet environment with minimal external noises. The microphone on the GATES app is extremely sensitive and can pick up on external noises giving you inaccurate results.
- Pluck the belt with your thumb and record the frequency measurement on your app.
- Rotate the pedal one quarter turn.
- Pluck the belt with your thumb and record the frequency measurement again.
- Repeat the above (2) steps until you have four (4) frequency measurements.
- Compare you results with the GATES frequency table provided in the app.
2.0) Adjusting the Belt Tension
- If the frequency measurements are not in-line with the recommended values provided by GATES; you will need to adjust the belt pulley manually.

Locate the rear triangle adjustment bolts. And loosen them on both sides of the e-bike:

- Locate the belt tension adjustment bolt on the drive-side of the rear triangle:

- Use a 4mm Hex key to adjust the belt tension accordingly. Adjust in small increments (Quarter turn at a time) and double check the belt tension after each adjustment.
- When you are satisfied with your belt tension setup; tighten up all the rear triangle bolts.
- Test the belt tension using the GATES mobile app to ensure the belt tension is within specs.
